The Dolparessan Calendar

In order to maintain a universal system of age and dating, the Terran year is used as the measure of Galactic Standard Time (GST). However, most planets also operate on a more practical system of local time as well. Legal documents in the Domha’vei are recorded using the calendar of the homeworld of the 6^th Matriarch, Dolparessa, moon of Sideria.

The Dolparessan year is 273 days long. A seven day week is used. The year is divided into 12 months: 9 months of three weeks and three months of four weeks. Sideria is the second planet of the Domha’vei, and as such, is closer to its sun than Earth is to Sol. In the time it takes for Earth to make a complete solar orbit, Sideria has completed one orbit plus an additional 39 local Dolparessan days.

The dating convention is to include the day and month followed by the corresponding GST year. Since the Dolparessan year is shorter than the GST, it is common for one month to occur twice in the same GST year. A sample date would be “3rd Workday of the 2nd Month of Restoration, 3610.”

Included is a reproduction of a seven year calendar which assists in the conversion between Terran years (YT), GST years and Dolparessan months (Glories of the Matriarchy Dolparessan Calendar provided by Imestid Premium Space Freight; English hastily pasted in by MC). Note that before the year 3599, the month of Restoration was called Sunslip.
