Biography:
Davy foretells the emanation of Marius several times in Eden Blues, saying he will be Mickey’s brother and have Mickey’s anal streak. Marius does not, however, emanate until “The Prophecy of Ash.” As the political situation complicates in Ventosty, and with the threat of the active volcano, Ash decides that it is too risky to maintain the double emanation of Owen and Lugh. He emanates Marius – the first new emanation in two years – a branch made from Mickey and Cillian. Marius can handle politics and fighting – but he’s also a ski instructor, adept at handling the cold.
Marius takes Tara to the caldera of the volcano in the intuition that they will be safest there. He’s right – there is an uprising in the city; the highman has been killed and Ta’al Erich taken hostage. The insurgents demand the abdication of Tenzin Merkht – but he’s more likely to allow his brother to be sacrificed and to attempt to retake the city by force. Marius rescues Ta’al Erich, buying time for Tara to arrange “a miracle of the Archon” with a little help from the Floatfish.
Marius does not feature in the action of The Perpetual Rose.
