After careful deliberation, we have decided to publish this collection of documents in full. The rationale follows:
- Until recently, security has demanded a certain amount of secrecy concerning these affairs. However, it has now been determined that public disclosure is a more prudent path. Clarification should lay to rest all accusations by enemy states about the origins of the K’ntasari people. Furthermore, the Verdict of the Lords of the Inner Vent has certain ramifications of import to all humanity. The sooner the information can be disseminated, the better.
- Much of the document contains very personal content concerning the Matriarch and the Archons. Although the release of such information is unusual, there has been such an extreme amount of media speculation that we feel that only the truth can stem the tide of incredible tales that has risen up around us. To wit: although our marital relations are unusual by human standards, our sex life isn’t half as interesting as it is portrayed in the tabloid press, not to mention the increasing body of fanfiction.*
- It is usual practice for authoritative biographies of important personages to be issued upon their decease. However, since neither the Archons nor the Matriarch intend to do something as gauche as dying, the biographical process is likely to be an ongoing endeavor. Again, accurate information is more advantageous than idle speculation in such regard.
- Her Eminence the Matriarch of Skarsia doesn’t give a flying fuck what anyone thinks of her.
- AT, TD, 2nd Battleday of the month of Matriarcha, CE 3611
*A recent ruling by Archbishop Venesti has determined that the writing of fanfiction concerning the Archon is not, in itself, a heretical act. However, tales that imply the Archon has violated his n’aashet n’aaverti – e.g.: stories concerning liaisons with Miranda, Clive Rivers, Floatfish, the elegant Santriss Silver Birch, etc. – are grounds for excommunication.
